I’ve always been a bit of a junk food fan. One of my favorite snacks is a big bowl of potato chips and pretzels, with a glass of Coke or Pepsi. Since being diagnosed with Celiac, I’ve had to alter my pretzels a bit (still searching for that one good brand), but I have discovered that many Frito-Lay snacks are gluten free. I applaude Frito-Lay for posting on their website which of their products are gluten free, as well as updating that list. This is something that many companies don’t do often enough.
So if you’re craving some snacks, check Frito-Lay’s site out (go to their FAQs) and you’ll see the list of over 100 of their gluten free snacks including various varieties of Cheetos, Fritos, and yes, Doritos. Snacking is safe again.

Have you tried Glutino pretzels? We think they are excellent. They are widely available at most places that carry gluten free foods, including Whole Foods and even Amazon (I think).
Good thing I just added that email subscription … I am finding posts of yours I missed! I agree with Rochelle. the Glutino pretzels are fantastic! You can buy them from a number of sources online (here’s one: http://www.vitacost.com/Glutino-Gluten-Free-Pretzels), but I got them at an upscale grocery store. Amazingly, they are free of not just gluten, but also dairy and egg. (Even gluten eaters, like my hubby, love them.)
Re: the Doritos, I was pretty sure I had read the labels on some that showed some particular flavors were not GF. Can’t remember which ones and their latest list seems to identify all the varieties I could think of. Except, is there just a Nacho Cheese variety (vs Spicier Nacho Cheese). I was thinking that flavor contained gluten. And, for me, sometimes I am concerned about cross contamination as the Frito-Lay products are made in a facility that also processes gluten-containing products and on lines that process those products. They do say they clean their lines in between runs, but folks with extreme sensitivity might have issues. Typical, cover themeselves statement, but I admit I’ve felt a little funky after eating some of these products before … psychosomatic? I don’t know.

LOL … I know see I’ve responsed to a 2007 post guess I was looking at Top Posts and not recent posts … oh well, we’re revisiting snack items I guess. Sorry, Steve.
and I typed “know” instead of “now” … sigh … must take a break from computer I think …
Even though I posted on an ancient post, I did want to report back that, as I thought, the Doritos Nacho Cheese flavor contains wheat and there was another flavor I wasn’t familiar with that also contains wheat, Spicy Sweet Chili. So always check the latest list on the Frito-Lay site and double check the label when you are purchasing.

Try pretzels by Ener-G-Foods, Inc. I get them from Chamberlains and I believe they have them in Whole Foods too. Very much like the real deal.
The plain ole Doritos I just bought (in Canada) contain “wheat flour”. I didn’t think to check, since the other bag (Zesty Cheese) didn’t have it listed.
However, having eat a few of the Zesty Cheese yesterday, today I’ve been extremely fatigued (which is my symptom when I’ve been “glutened”).
