I’ve never been a huge yogurt fan, but I do know it’s so good for you, and I do need the calcium since I’ve got osteoporosis. We were at the grocery store today and the artist asked me if I wanted to buy some yogurt. I said, “I need to research which brand is safe.” He picked up a few varietys of Yoplait and there it was on the packaging – “Gluten free”. I was shocked. It’s so great to see food manufacturers putting this on their labels. It saves us all time and energy from doing more research and be able to purchase the items right when we see them. Some of the gluten free flavors we bought were Mountain Blueberry, Key Lime Pie, Tropical Peach, Blackberry Harvest, and Boysenberry. Oh yeah, we also bought a jar of Vlasic pickles, too. Label read “Natural flavors” but the Vlasic website said their products are gluten free. Put it on the label, then!

Oh yes … I’m so grateful to Heinz, Walkers and the like (yes, I know, but I’m feeding a gluten free child!) because they make it explicit. I’m always saying to other people who are catering for my daughter that they can rely on this brand/that brand because the packets tell us whether she can eat it or not – no guessing.
I wonder if they know how much their market share is increased just because they put two extra words on their packaging?
Lucy, I always try to call or write the manufacturer whenver I see gluten free on their packaging. They need to know how valuable this is to consumers and besides, sometimes they reward you for reaching out to them!
Wow- I had no idea! Thanks for posting this- it just made my day-and good job on the blog as well!
Had gone to the hospital because of some flu like symptoms and was told yogurt was best w/ the antibiotic I was taking. From there to the store I was wondering if it would be a difficult challenge to find yogurt that was gluten free and upon turning the container around to look I saw “the two words” that eased my quest. Upon getting home to enjoy the yogurt I was eager to have it and quite pleased too…
Thanks Yoplait! I’ll enjoy your product forever,
Jesse
