I’m a big fan of the Triumph Dining cards when it comes to eating out. So when someone from their company reached out to me recently and asked me to review their latest edition of their Restaurant Guide, I was more then happy to.
This guide is in it’s third edition and really is a must for anyone who travels and has to eat gluten-free. I’m a big fan of books as it is and cookbooks as well (again, Ginger…we have that in common). I used to work for a major book retailer and would love whenever I could get some freebies from the buyer of the Cooking category.
Anyhow, the Essential Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide is an excellent resource. It is broken out by state, then by major cities in those states. I looked up the places I travel to for work, places here in Denver, and even places around where my gf pals live!
There are a few places I would love to see listed in the book, to help them out: Tokyo Joe’s (who now lists their steak as gf as well – it used to be marinated but apparently not anymore. I love this place!), Mad Greens, and Sonic (love their drinks!). And no listing for Wendy’s? I get their salads every now and again, and their frosties are gf!
My only recommendation for Triumph Dining is to add a section about restaurants in all of the major airports in each city. I would love to know where I can safely eat if I have a layover.
I highly recommend this book, as it’s a great resource and tool for anyone traveling – work or pleasure. It’ll give you a great starting point of where to eat. Thanks, Triumph Dining!

Ooooh. Sonic? They don’t have dedicated fryers and cook all their tots/rings/poppers in the same oil. And they have small counters and they’re pretty crumb-y. I got this from a former student who warned me — she said most of them are NASTY. Be careful, lil bro. It can be a mess there. P.S. I love their drinks — but the sugar free cherry limeade? It’s Diet Sierra Mist with cherry juice. I can make that at home.
I have one of these too and it has been a life saver! My only recommendation to you is, you still need to check every so often to make sure the menu has not changed. I bought this guide last April. The Chili’s menu has changed since then. Luckily, thanks to my dining cards, the manager caught the fact I was ordering something that was no longer on the gf menu.
I think the book gives a good starting point, but you yourself have to update it so you stay safe.
