There’s an old song Once in love with Amy….
Amy is a dear friend of mine that I met about ten years ago when I first moved to Denver. She was a co-worker at my new job, having started about two weeks prior to me at the same company.
I remember the first time a group of us went out for happy hour – she ordered a “red” beer (beer with tomato juice). How funny that our minds retain information like that little nugget.
We stayed friends through the years, through jobs and lifes ups and downs. Some of our best memories are from when we would get together after so much time apart (and some great memories come from a cable industry show in Boston). She’s always been a good friend, ready to lend an ear or a hand. In fact, she lent two hands to the Artist and I back in 2005 when we held our ceremony helping with flowers and set up.
This weekend, Amy is having a birthday party for her son (who will be four). She called me today to make sure of what I can/can’t eat at the party, and walked me through everything, reading me ingredient labels, telling me the food plans, etc. I was stunned. Stunned. This is not something that I am used to, as no one really has done that for me before. She wants to make sure I can eat at the party, and said it’s not an issue at all for her to do this planning.
For that, I am thankful. What a great friend Amy is, and I am looking forward to spending time with her and her family on Saturday. Once in love with Amy…

That is so awesome! I love friends like that…
Quick update – Amy’s was great. She took great care of me, and even had a special dessert for me so I’d have something while everyone else had cupcakes. A good friend.
