Carol Fenster, author and gluten free guru, has a new cookbook in stores. With 1,000 gluten free recipes, across multiple categories, you can’t go wrong. I had the good fortune of meeting Carol last year at a workshop and got to test bake two recipes for her, which was very cool. Plus, I got an acknowledgement in the book (thanks, Carol – I’m now in print!).
If you’re looking for new ideas to bake, or looking for a gift to give to a newly diagnosed Celiac, this book is a great purchase.
Carol has been gluten free for over 20 years, which I can’t imagine. How could she have done this without the Internet, with so little knowledge out there and with so few products available? She tells her story in the book. Fortunately for us, we can all benefit from her years of knowledge, practice and cooking/baking.
Carol, thanks for all you do for the Celaic community.

Wow, Steve, how cool! Congratulations! The book has a lovely, appealing cover and 1,000 recipes is impressive! I haven’t met Carol Fenster, but I have long admired her efforts and work. I subscribe to her free newsletter, Culinary Cues, which I share with my support group, and I’ve gotten some good recipes off her website (www.savorypalate.com). I also think it’s inspiring that she’s someone who was never diagnosed celiac, but saw how removing gluten from her diet resolved her health problems so she stuck with the GF diet. I agree it must have been much more challenging 20 years ago … on so many levels. The positive point must have been learning to rely on more “real” foods and naturally GF recipes though. Doing that can make eating GF easier in general. Anyway, thanks for sharing this info!
That is SO awesome!!
Carol Fenster is undeniably a gluten free expert. Looking forward to checking out the new cookbook. I can’t begin to imagine how challenging it must have been to be gluten free 20 years ago. The Internet is my lifeline to other celiacs!
PS – Can I have your autograph?
This is a great book! I am getting ready to do a post on this book myself this week! I got it a couple weeks ago and have been making some of the recipes. Today, our dinner, bread and cookies were from her book. The chocolate chip cookie recipe is the best I’ve made since going gluten free. I did add double the amount of butter called for, but they are the recipe I’ve been looking for since becoming gluten free. Yum!
Tee hee, I’ve been gluten-free for 29 years. And yes, it really sucked some twenty years ago, believe me!
