I was diagnosed with Celiac in April 2006. I was really sick for a month, and when my cousin said to me, “I bet you have a gluten intolerance”, I thought, “You’re crazy.” But about two weeks later, after bloodwork and some scopes, I had my official diagnosis. The diagnosis made complete sense looking back at my health since childhood. I was never able to gain weight and always skinny, lots of cavities (due to my body not absorbing calcium) and always having digestive problems.
When I was first diagnosed, I scoured the Internet in search of how will I eat and live and just enjoy life again? Since my diagnosis, oddly enough, a few of our friends/acquaintances have been diagnosed with either Celiac or being gluten-intolerances (maybe they were jealous of me being healthy?!) I love finding new, great gluten-free recipes and sharing tips/ideas with others so that’s why I started this blog. It’s an insight into my life and hopefully a place for others to come to for help. Please be sure to do your own research though, to make sure what you eat is 100% safe for you. This blog is not intended to give medical advice, diagnosis or be what’s right/safe for everyone.
As many of you gluten-intolerant/Celiac readers know, it can be frustrating to live a gluten free life. Reading labels, calling manufacturers/vendors, going without while others enjoy, etc. There’s tears, laughters, rants and thank goodness, support from loved ones. I’m so fortunate that I’ve got help and support along the way of my journey, as well.
I couldn’t be living the gluten free life without the love, support and patience of my partner, also known as “the Artist” on this blog. Without him, many of the recipes and ideas on my site wouldn’t have come to fruition.

I need some of them!
Here’s a great cupcake recipe, Dianne.

So your last “gluten” cake was a wedding cupcake?
Perfect!
My last gluten cake was our wedding cake too! LOL
Kate – if you’re looking for a good cake recipe, check out the cupcakes the Artist made me for my birthday. They’re very yummy, great consistency and you’d never know they were gluten free. I would think you could add some cocoa and make them into chocolate or marble cupcakes as well.
Be well.
yhis is my first time here, so i’ll be checking back…….nice pics…………….
Have a nice day !
Hi Steve,
My husband is a coeliac too (and his mother and grand mother), he has been diagnosed since he was a baby.
After I moved in with him I learn alot about gluten free ingredients in stuff. I’m Indonesian and a lot of things in sauces that I was not aware it can be a no no for coeliacs. Luckily now we can get gluten free ingredients quite easily in Ireland, like soy sauce that is very important in Asian cooking.
Recently I bake a lot, mostly cupcakes and cookies (gluten free of course), I’ve never seen anything more heart warming then seeing my husband face while he’s enjoying his treats that very very very seldom he had before
Please stop by at my blog and maybe some recipes I have you can use.
Good luck and enjoy you life.
My husband was recently diagnosed with Celiac. His symptoms had been present since he was a young child. He’s in his early 30s now. Forever, literally, he’s dealt with it, and he was FINALLLLLY sent to a specialist and they determined with similiar tests that yes, Celiac was the case.
That was several months ago, and he’s 100 % better now because he’s gluten-free.
Im glad I found your blog. I love reading others that have this issue, and am always looking for great recipes. Currently, I’m wanting a biscuit recipe … got any suggestions?
Love your blog. Bookmarking it now!
Hi Steve,
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself, I am the Gluten Free Mama, mother of Lexie who is either celiac or gluten intolerant. We don’t have a confirmed diagnosis either way. The blood work shows positive, the gene negative, the scope negative (but when we did that she was off gluten and then almost died during the procedure). What we do know is that if she even has a bite of gluten she won’t digest food for a week and will have chronic diahreah and vomiting. So we keep her off of it. And she is an amazingly wonderful child if we keep her gluten free.
With that she has inspired me to write Gluten Free Mama’s best baking recipes cookbook. It is a fabulous cookbook, but number 2 is going to be 10 times better. I am half way through and can’t stop baking! My goal is to make recipes that the entire family will enjoy not just those living gluten free. I also hope to be a support for those who need a little extra encouragement while living this way.

Hi Steve,
This is great! I was diagnosed July 2006 so we are on the same adventure . . . except I am on the road 4 days each week so I get to explore it from the no-need-to-cook (or put your faith in their hands) side of it!
Your site is fun, thank you!
Have you tried Cava Greens yet? Unlike the other salad restaurants, at Cava Greens Celiacs need only to stay away from the bread and croutons. We even provide nutrition since none of the food options are processed and custom portioning in the norm. The vinaigrettes are made from extra virgin olive oil and aged vinegars. True and tasty food! If you are in our neighborhood stop in and taste the difference, I promise it is worth the trip.
Thanks for letting me know of this place! I’ve not heard of you, but don’t live too far from your restaurant. I’ll have to stop by!

It’s great to see a guy gluten-free blogging. You are a rarity for sure. I’ve just started blogging myself, and I’m trying to learn to create my own recipes. It looks like you’re quite good at it (those cinnamon rolls look so good!).
Aloha from Maui
Hi Amanda – There are only two other guys I’ve found that gf blog. One is Peter over at http://www.noglutennoproblem.blogspot.com. The other is Mike over at http://gluten-free-blog.blogspot.com/

Hello,
I was the oh-so-lucky winner of the Glutino coupons and I just want to say again, thank you so much. But I am hoping you can help me further. I have been trying to buy some bagels (because I’ve been craving them so badly, I’m tempted to eat a regular one), but I cannot figure out for the life of me how to enter the coupon code on the glutenfree.com website. I have tried every combination of numbers from the bottom of the coupon that I can think of – nothing is working! Please help me use what I’ve won, so I can at last cram a toasted, cream-cheesy bagel in my mouth!
-Sarah
Sarah – I think you are going to have to either use them at a retail store, or contact the website directly to see if they can be used online.

Thank you, Steve. As we continue to work towards developing a fully gluten-free product, I would like to set up a panel of experts and advocates in the gluten-free arena. Would you like to be part of this, and is there anyone else you would recommend?
Best Regards,
Ariel Scott
